To mtnbker395: have you ridden one yourself? Clearly not, since you are relying only on other peoples opinions - smarten up, do you own research and have your own opinion based on that. The looks - it's a personal thing, you ether like it or not. Unreliable - no, not with Fox or Manitou internals, but yes if you have Cannondales own guts inside. I worked as a bike mechanic for Cannondale dealer and never saw a broken lefty, nor in half nor at the axle.
To RossiRossi: hey man, did you noticed that 99.9% of all cars and airplanes have their wheels attache the same way it's done on lefty, and tell me how many broken off wheels did you see in your life? Tha design is called Console Type Attachment. Besides, main advantage of a lefty is a square rod inside, so it is many times stiffer than ANY other fork on the market. But, personally, as an engineer, I can tell you that 130mm travel is the safe limit for that fork, where it is the best in its class in strength to weight ratio. If you don't know something - read or ask question, I believe that's called learning.
